Discount Calculator
How to Calculate Discounts Correctly?
Discounts are everywhere – during sales, festivals, or clearance events. But are you paying the right price? Our discount calculator computes the final price after applying a percentage discount and also tells you exactly how much you saved.
The Formula Behind the Calculator
To calculate the discounted price: Final Price = Original Price - (Original Price × Discount / 100). For example, if a ₹1000 product has a 20% discount: you save ₹200, and pay ₹800. Our calculator does this instantly.
When to Use This Tool
- Online Shopping: Verify if your coupon code really gives you the claimed discount.
- Festival Sales (Diwali, Dussehra, Christmas): Check the actual price after "flat X% off".
- Business Purchases: Compare bulk discount offers from different vendors.
- Billing Mistakes: Double-check store bills that show percentage off.
Beware of "Up to X% Off" Traps
Many ads say "up to 50% off" – but only a few items get that. Use our calculator to see actual savings. Also remember: a discount is only good if you needed the product. Don't buy just because it's on sale!
Advanced: Successive Discounts
Sometimes stores offer "10% + additional 20% off". These are not added (30%). The correct way: first apply 10% off, then 20% off on the new price. Example: ₹1000 → 10% off → ₹900 → 20% off → ₹720 (total 28% off, not 30%). Our basic calculator handles single discounts; for successive, just apply twice.
Use this tool before every purchase – it might save you thousands over time.
